The class of '92
Article Abstract:
Every year the Royal Shakespeare Company offers about 10 Play as Cast contracts to attract young drama students. Auditions are for the company, not for specific parts. The 60-week contracts require the actors to take part in any play at short notice. The parts are often walk-ons and non-speaking. The actors usually remain for the Barbican season, so commit about two years. This experience may be exciting but not necessarily useful for obtaining work in the future as the parts are so small.
