It is best to visit in the first half of Oct, when the trees are at their most attractive, although it is impossible to predict exactly when autumn colours can be seen in specific parts of New England. The only real city in the region is Boston, MA, which can be reached directly from Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The most common types of accommodation are inns and bed and breakfast.

Some of the best trails go up Cadillac Mountain, at the base of which are the Wild Gardens of Acadia.
