The end of the silver screen?
Article Abstract:
Digital technology is set to have a significant impact on the film industry. This technology will produce images with a quality near to, or better than, normal 35mm projected film, with no dirt or scratches. The risk of piracy will also be reduced, as encryption techniques will improve and feature films will be released simultaneously worldwide. However, film exhibitors will have to be persuaded that digital technology is effective and that the heavy investment required is justified.
