Them, us and the Putney war

Article Abstract:

Residents in the wealthy Solna Avenue area of west Putney, London, are trying to prevent the opening of a three-storey complex of self-contained flats which have been purpose-built to offer accommodation to eight unemployed black teenagers leaving care. They claim that they were not properly consulted by Wandsworth Council before planning permission was granted for the project, and fear that having young people of this kind living nearby will drive down property prices. This case has increased tension which already existed with the nearby Ashburton council estate.
