The evolution of the curve

Article Abstract:

Curves dominate modern vehicle and product design. Designers regard curves as being able to communicate a different set of values from straight lines. Curves are seen as secure, natural and humane, rather than artificial and mechanical. They call to mind the familiar comforts of nature and define the modern sensibility. They also indicate a way of reconciling advanced technology with nature. Designers derive their inspiration for curves from many different sources.
