The invisible men
Article Abstract:
Businessman Gerald Stonehill, who owns the largest collection in the world of Duo-Art music rolls for player-pianos, collaborated with Gordon Iles, the chief theoretician of Aeolian, a company which used to make player-pianos, to devise a robot which will play music rolls automatically on an ordinary piano. The first concert using this robot was given in 1974, and the robot has attracted considerable interest ever since. Most recently, it has been used for a series of historic piano roll recordings which is being released by Nimbus.
