The moment Sir John met his match

Article Abstract:

Newcastle Sporting Club founder Sir John Hall, controlling shareholder of Newcastle United Football Club, believed that his venture would be a key driving force in encouraging sporting talent in the UK, as well as playing a vital role in economic regeneration in the Newcastle, England, region. However, Newcastle Sporting Club is now reported to be 9 million pounds sterling in debt, and it is shedding its basketball, ice hockey and rugby teams. Hall's problems have been partly created by his son Douglas, who has been critical of Newcastle United fans.

Going nuclear: can John Taylor persuade us to love British Nuclear Fuels?

Article Abstract:

British Nuclear Fuels Ltd (BNFL) Chief Executive John Taylor hopes to convert the company into a global nuclear operator, offering power generation and nuclear clean-up alongside its traditional nuclear reprocessing services. He acknowledges that his role at BNFL has provided significant challenges. In particular, he must address the issues raised by the UK government's plans to privatize up to 49% of the company. He feels that ordinary people are now beginning to recognize that there are environmental costs associated with all energy options.

Adolescence can be murder

Article Abstract:

Psychologists who have studied what prompts some teenagers to become so violent that they actually commit murder point out that adolescence is a time of seeking independence and identity. In particular, sexual identity can become a threatening subject. Teenagers who do not feel part of their peer group can turn to fantasies about violence, with the violence actually being put into practice when they meet someone who shares their view of the world. The vast majority of teenagers who commit murder cannot be seen as mentally ill.
