The white of spring

Article Abstract:

Snowdrops bring life to the garden at a time of year when very little seems to be growing. This can make them very attractive to some people. Indeed, true snowdrop experts can distinguish between many different varieties, and are prepared to pay a considerable amount of money for rare varieties. Snowdrops tend to grow better in an alkaline soil than an acid one, and benefit from a cool root run. They thrive in sun or partial shade, but do not do very well in deep shade.

Fresh tulips with plenty of garlic

Article Abstract:

The very heavy rainfall in the UK over recent weeks has not damaged spring bulbs, which are already starting to flower. The weather has prevented some autumn-sown vegetables from growing, but garlic is already coming through strongly.
