Silent shame of women's wounds of war
Article Abstract:
It seems likely that many ethnic Albanian women in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, were raped by Serb soldiers and civilians. However, these women are extremely reluctant to admit to having been raped, as rape is seen as bringing ultimate shame. There are particular problems for unmarried women who have been raped, as they will not find a husband if they admit to having been raped. It has also been known for husbands to reject wives who have been raped.

Terrified and starving, 174 people hid in a small house
Article Abstract:
The United Nations reports that around 18,500 ethnic Albanians hid in the town of Glogovac, Kosovo, Yugoslavia, as Serbian soldiers and police took control of the area. These people are now beginning to come out of hiding as Nato troops arrive, but the situation remains extremely delicate. They have had to endure extremely harsh conditions, and have survived with very limited food and medical care.
