UK: BTOPENWORLD TO CATCH UP WITH BACKLOG
Article Abstract:
Although the residential and small business retail Internet unit of British Telecom, BTopenworld, currently has a backlog of thousands of orders for broadband online service, it anticipates it will have caught up with this by the start of 2001 and that by then an installation will occur within a fortnight of an order being placed. BT predicts that Britain will be the European leader in local loop unbundling and broadband usage within twelve months. A report carried out by researchers Data Monitor forecasts that 33% of UK households will use cable and ASDL computer modems by 2004.
