UK: CAR REGISTRATIONS RISE IN NOVEMBER
Article Abstract:
Compared to November 1999 new car registrations in the UK rose by 13.4% reports the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders(SMMT). Private buyers rose by 33.8% in November 2000 as a result better deals and warranty packages and greater competition. Total registrations from January to November 2000 inclusive totalled 2.11mn and should surpass 2.2mn for the whole year.

UK new car registrations in August 2000 declined by 4.3% year-on-year to 71,228 units, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders. The decline was due to changes to licence plate prefixs now taking place twice a year. It is projected that registrations for 2000 overall will total 2.225mn.
