UK: STOCK EXCHANGE CHIEF EXECUTIVE RESIGNS
Article Abstract:
Chief executive of the London Stock Exchange, Gavin Casey, has resigned after his position became untenable. Despite being re-elected by the narrowest of margins at the AGM he was not prepared to go on after a large protest vote against him. Chairman Don Cruickshank will assume his responsibilities until a replacement is found. Potential candidates already suggested include Hugh Freedberg, chief executive of Liffe, and Ed Warner, chief executive of Old Mutual Securities.
