We're heading for the booziest Christmas ever

Article Abstract:

Sales of alcoholic drinks in the UK are set to be very high over the Christmas 1996 period. This will be partly because of rising consumer confidence and rising real incomes and partly because of more positive attitudes towards the consumption of alcohol, part of a long-term cycle of changing attitudes towards alcohol consumption. People appear to be taking a more responsible attitude towards drinking and driving, and they are also recognising that there can be some health benefits in drinking moderately.
