Fiber-cement: new kid on the building block
Article Abstract:
Fiber-cement boards are gaining share in some US markets, including those for roofing, siding, and tile-backer boards. The technology, introduced into the US in the late 1980s by James Hardie Building Products, combines cellulose fibers and an inorganic matrix. Fiber-cement appears ready to strengthen its position in siding markets. There are six US fiber-cement plants.

Nevada's Silver State Classic Challenge is an automobile race during which drivers drive as fast as they can on a 90-mile stretch of Hwy 318, between the cities of Hiko and Lund. The speed with which people travel on any freeway even when they see a police car is amazing. An attempt to win a contest for the most bizarre looking car is described.
