Raisa Gorbachev
Article Abstract:
Raisa Gorbachev sought to help her husband, Mikhail Gorbachev, to humanize and modernize the Soviet Union, but their efforts ended up helping to destroy the Soviet Union. She was better thought of in western countries thn in her homeland. She carried out research into the lives of collective farmers, and taught Marxism prior to Gobachev becoming leader of the Soviet Union. She appeared in public with her husband, which was unusual for a Soviet leader and his wife. Her influence may have been important in Gorbachev's decision not to use repression as the Soviet Union fell apart.

A study of force and cross-sectional area of adductor pollicis muscle in female hip fracture patients
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the extent of muscle weaknesses experienced by older female hip fracture patients, to determine if the weakness is caused by a decline of the force produced by muscle or a decline in muscle bulk, and to investigate the process of decline. The results revealed that isometric muscle maximum voluntary force (MVF) was lowest among hip fracture group. Only part of the weaknesses could be explained by cross-sectional area.
