The effectiveness of day hospital care on home care patients
Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of rehabilitative and medically oriented day hospital care has been studied in a group of rural community-based long-term home-care patients. It was found that one group, which used the cay hospital care, and the other, which did not, used hospitals, except for the day treatment, to the same extent in the year follow-up. The treatment group used specialist consultations significantly more than the other group did. Day hospital care had a good effect on quality of life, but did not improve physical functions significantly.

Platelet hyperactivity in hypertensive older patients is controlled by lowering blood pressure
Article Abstract:
A study on platelet hyperactivity in older men and women with hypertension and no other risk factors for atherogenic disease is discussed. Study results indicate that normalization of blood pressure brings about a significant reduction in enhanced platelet activity, which is frequently associated with hypertension.
