Elder abuse in nursing homes: the theft of patients' possessions

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the theft of nursing home patients' property in nursing homes. The objective was to understand the nature of this type of abuse and to obtain theoretical explanations for it. Based on routine activities theory, there are reasons to expect that theft from nursing home patients is common and that nursing home employees are involved. Because of the scarcity of research done on the subject, further studies are recommended.
