Caring for older Americans: The future of geriatric medicine
Article Abstract:
A report on the trends in the geriatric medicine, by the American Geriatrics Society Core Writing Group of the Task Force, is presented. According to the report, geriatric medicine has seen substantial progress, but much still needs to be done, in order to met the health care needs of aging population. Therefore, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Task Force has introduced five important goals. These can be accomplished with the help government, organizations, agencies, foundations and other partners.

Race and stress in the incidence of herpes zoster in older adults
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine risk factors such as race and psychological stress on herpes zoster in older adults. The mean age of the population in this sample was 73.6 years, 55% of participants were African-Americans, 45% were whites, and 65% were women. Results showed that African-Americans had decreased risks later in life and stress was not related to zoster.
