Daily pain that was excruciating at some time in the previous week: prevalence, characteristics, and outcomes in nursing home residents
Article Abstract:
A study is undertaken to examine the prevalence of an excruciating daily pain and to identify the characteristics and outcomes of persons with this level of pain. Findings indicate that nursing home (NH) residents with daily pain that was excruciating were younger and seriously ill with functional decline and weight loss.

Infections and functional impairment in nursing home residents: a reciprocal relationship
Article Abstract:
The relationship between infections and functional impairments in nursing home residents is examined. It is observed that infections may appear to be both a cause and consequence of functional impairments in these residents.
