Elder abuse and neglect in residential settings: the need for inclusiveness in elder abuse research
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the validity of the argument that research into elder abuse and neglect has only focused on the family violence model and that more studies need to be carried out concerning abuse in residential settings. Results indicated the existence of research concerning the study of elder abuse within the family violence framework. Findings suggested the need for better training and better working conditions in institutional settings. In addition, there are several problems concerning nursing in long-term care that need to be addressed.

Dealing with institutional abuse in a multicultural South African society
Article Abstract:
Socio-political transformation and complex multi-cultural diversity in South Africa have created enormous challenges concerning the care of the aged in institutions. The new Constitution of South Africa promotes equality for all regardless of gender, sex, race, age, and disability. However, there is still a need to implement governmental legislation to help pressure groups increase awareness of elderly abuse in the country.
