Effects of genotype and diet on age-related lesions in ad libitum fed and calorie-restricted F344, BN, and BNF3F1 rats
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the impact of calorie restriction on aging-related lesions in different types of hybrid rats. The genotype, diet, and sex of the rats were analyzed to determine their influence on lesion prevalence, and it is proposed that the development of lesions and diseases in aging rats is controlled by environmental and genetic factors.

Growth curves and survival characteristics of the animals used in the biomarkers of aging program
Article Abstract:
Research by the National Center for Toxicological Research and the National Institute on Aging is focused on identifying biomarkers of aging in rats to test interventions aimed at slowing the aging process. Research linking food consumption, growth characteristics, and life span in different rodent genotypes is presented.

Lesion biomarkers of aging in B6C3F1 hybrid mice
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the impact of caloric restriction on aging-related pathological changes in mice. Results suggest caloric restriction slows the aging rate, and further studies reveal lesions may serve as biomarkers of aging.
