Age-related equivalence of identity suppression in the Stroop color-word task

Article Abstract:

A survey of 16 college students and 16 senior citizens was conducted to find out the validity of the proposition that the tendency for identity suppression decreased with age. The survey used the Stroop color-word task as testing vehicle and results show that there was no significant difference between identity suppression among the two groups of individuals. The findings negate conclusions derived from earlier research.
