Gastroesophageal reflux disease
Article Abstract:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a disease that is best defined as the symptoms and/or sings of esophageal or adjacent organ injury secondary to the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus or, beyond, into oral cavity or airways. GERD appears to occur more in older people. It stays for a long period of time, which often becomes complicated with severe erosive esophagitis, peptic stricture, and Barrett's esophagus. GERD is not life-threatening, but it can effect the quality of life.
