Health care for older persons, a country profile: France
Article Abstract:
France differs from the United States in regards to its notions and concepts about aging. A portrait is presented of France's health care provisions for elderly persons. Cultural and social aspects are examined as well as geriatric care from a patient's perspective. Geriatric education for health care workers is also reviewed. France's system is critiqued and future perspectives are noted.

Nontreatment and aggressive narcotic therapy among hospitalized pancreatic cancer patients
Article Abstract:
Non-treatment and aggressive narcotic therapy for terminally ill patients has been a commonly occurring practice in King County, Washington since 1959. The medical records of 417 pancreatic cancer patients between 1959-1962, 1969-1972 and 1985-1990 were examined to determine the treatment decisions, non-treatment and aggressive narcotic therapy decisions.
