Measuring fitness in healthy older adults: the Health ABC Long Distance Corridor Walk
Article Abstract:
An evaluation is presented on the Health ABC Long Distance Corridor Walk, which tests physical fitness in older adults via a warm-up and timed 400-meter walk. The warm-up, coupled with a target distance rather than a target time, encouraged test subjects to make exertions closer to their individual maximum capacity, and is an equitable, less expensive alternative to a treadmill test.
