Mild cognitive deterioration with subcortical features: prevalence, clinical characteristics, and association with cardiovascular risk factors in community-dwelling older persons (the InCHIANTI Study)

Studies show that low cognitive performance and gait disturbance are linked to atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and low HDL cholesterol, which may also indicate subcortical vascular damage. Data were obtained from 556 subjects 70 to 90 years of age in Italy's Tuscany region.
