Plasma hypertonicity: another marker of frailty?
Article Abstract:
Plasma hypertonicity, abnormally elevated amounts of effective solute per kg plasma, as a marker of preclinical frailty are proposed. The study uses data from a representative cohort of community-dwelling subjects reporting no disability at baseline to examine plasma hypertonicity as a potential marker of preclinical frailty.

Body weight change and mortality in a cohort of elderly patients recently discharged from the hospital
Article Abstract:
The prognostic significance of weight change in frail elderly patients is examined. The findings state that elderly patients who gain 3 or more kg/y after hospital discharge are at nearly the same risk of mortality as those who lose this amount of weight.
