Predicting stroke recovery: three- and six- month rates of patient-centered functional outcomes based on the Orpington prognostic scale

Article Abstract:

This article examines the accuracy of a prognostic assessment scale in predicting the neurological and physical recovery status of patients three and six months after a stroke. Findings indicate that the prognostic scale was able to accurately predict functional recovery in areas including meal preparation, personal care, and mobility.

Weight outcomes among antidepressant users in nursing facilities

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between weight changes and antidepressant use among elderly residents of nursing homes. Findings indicate that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants are not associated with significant weight gains or losses when used by nursing home residents.

Ethnic differences in the frequency and circumstances of falling in older community-dwelling women

Article Abstract:

The cultural variances in fall rates and fall conditions in women living in communities are investigated. Though the conditions differ, the frequency remains the same.
