Social participation attenuates decline in perceptual speed in old and very old age
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to find out whether engaged and active lifestyle in old age alleviate cognitive decline or high cognitive functioning in old age increases the possibility of maintaining an engaged active lifestyle or both. Results reveal that within a bivariate system of perceptual speed and social participation, with age and sociobiographical status as covariates, prior scores of social participation influence subsequent changes in perceptual speed while the opposite does not hold.

Environmental topography and postural control demands shape aging-associated decrements in spatial navigation performance
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to test the hypothesis that aging-induced cognitive permeation of sensorimotor functions contributes to adult age differences in spatial navigation performance. It revealed prononounced age-related differences in navigational place learning that interacted with demands of environmental topography or cognitive processes, indicating age-related differences in reliance on spatial relational learning.

Age and experience influences on the complexity of social inferences
Article Abstract:
An assessment of age differences in social-cognitive functioning is made by examining sensitivity to the trait implications of behavioral cues when making social inferences. It is concluded that middle aged and older adults are more likely than younger adults to make inferences consistent with the trait-diagnostic implications of the behaviors.
