Source of dietary carbohydrate affects life span of Fischer 344 rats independent of caloric restriction
Article Abstract:
The influence of caloric intake and source of dietary carbohydrate on the longevity of male Fischer 344 rats is investigated. One group of rodents was fed ad libitum while the other was restricted to 60% ad libitum. The results suggest that the dietary source of carbohydrate can have a significant impact on the longevity of the rodents independently of caloric intake. Contrary to expectations, rats given cornstarch as the carbohydrate source and those restricted to 60% ad libitum cornstarch did not exhibit any increase in median life span.

Arterial closing pressure correlates with diastolic pseudohypertension in the elderly
Article Abstract:
Arterial closing pressure (ACP) helps detect pseudohypertension more accurately than diastolic measurements. In the absence of pseudohypertension, there is an automatic closure of the bronchial artery, while the pressure applied by a water cuff is essential to facilitate artery closure in cases with pseudohypertension. The extent of pseudohypertension exhibits a relationship with ACP.
