The MDS-CHESS Scale: A new measure to predict mortality in institutionalized older people
Article Abstract:
An observational study based on Minimum Data Set 2.0 and mortality data has been carried out in Ontario chronic care hospitals to develop a scale predicting mortality and other adverse outcomes associated with frailty. The Changes in Health, End-stage disease and Symptoms and Signs (CHESS) score gives a new useful Minimum Data Set (MDS)-based test to predict mortality and measure instability in health as a clinical outcome.
