The comorbidity symptom scale: a combined disease inventory and assessment of symptom severity
Article Abstract:
A validation cohort study of hospital inpatients and outpatients older than 64 has been carried out to develop and evaluate a scale, the Comorbidity Symptom Scale (CmSS), to quantify the presence and severity of symptoms arising from comorbid diseases in older people. It was found that the CmSS is a simple interviewer-administered tool for use in older people and provides an objective measure of the presence of comorbid disease and the patient's perception of severity of associated symptoms.

The contribution of foot problems to mobility impairment and falls in community-dwelling older people
Article Abstract:
The contribution of foot problems to falls and mobility impairment has been considered in a cross-sectional, retrospective study in 135 community-dwelling people aged 75-93. Findings indicate that foot problems are a falls risk factor in older people and suggest that the cumulative effect of multiple foot problems is more important in increasing falls risk than individual foot conditions are.
