An evolutionary approach to technological innovation in agriculture: some preliminary remarks
Article Abstract:
The forces governing agricultural innovations are addressed in terms of the most appropriate analytical framework to be used. As such, it is contended that the concept of technological trajectories can be applied in agricultural economics. Although similar patterns can be observed in the production, technology and markets of agricultural operations, they are not enough to deviate from the use of evolutionary methods just as in any other industry. Moreover, complicated forces in agricultural innovations give way to varied technological trajectories.

Flexibility trap: a case analysis of U.S. and Japanese technological choice in the digital watch industry
Article Abstract:
The belief that the US system of flexible transaction is better and faster than its inflexible Japanese counterpart in adapting to technological changes is disproven. Although Japanese companies face personnel problems in employee recruitment, they are flexible enough in promoting internal employee movement. The flexibility trap can be removed by firms through the establishment of their own facilities under inflexible conditions.
