'Black Lions': Battle at Ong Thanh
Article Abstract:
The first infantry division's infantry that are famed 'Black Lions' dispatched its second battalion to participate in Operation Shenandoah II where the mission sought to seek and destroy the enemy in numerous locales between Saigon and the Cambodian border. The second battalion responded to intelligence reports that an enemy main force regiment was close and near the village of Chon Thanh and three of the rifle companies Alpha, Bravo and Delta departed their base at Lai Khe and air assaulted to a site to the northwest.

Patience essential in Iraq, says VFW chief

Commander-in-Chief Jim Mueller observed the firsthand progress occurring in turning the military responsibilities over to Iraqi forces when he was sent Iraq as part of an eight-person delegation in February 2006. The National Gulf War Resource Center estimated that the bill would apply to all of the US's 28,000 MS Vets but target 25% of the nation's nearly 700,000 Persian Gulf War (1991) vets who suffer various ailments.

Adjutant General: As one era ends, another begins
Article Abstract:
The achievements and the changes witnessed during the tenure of John J. Senk, Jr. as the adjutant general of the VFW is discussed. The retirement of John Senk put an end to an era after which the era of Allen Kent began who also brought about many changes.
