What crises could teach us about complexity and systemic management: the case of the Nestucca oil spill
Article Abstract:
A study of the Nestucca oil spill, a disaster that occurred off the coast of Canada three months prior to the Exxon-Valdez oil spill, has been conducted to determine a number of systemic management techniques that can be gleaned from the handling of the crisis. Interviews with the individuals who took part in the management of the disaster reveal the need for further studies on how lessons from such tragedies can be properly packaged into an institutionalized system of learning.
