Efficient algorithms for constructing proper higher order spatial lag operators
Article Abstract:
Four algorithms for constructing proper higher-order spatial lag operators were developed as an extension of Hans J. Blommestein and Nick A. Koper's 1992 study. Blommestein and Koper worked on the construction of higher-order spatial lag operators without redundant and circular paths. The fourth algorithm was found to be faster than the rest by several orders of magnitude. The algorithm is the only one that is realistically implementable in an interactive exploratory spatial data analysis within a geographic information system.

Spatial econometrics in practice: a review of software options
Article Abstract:
The lack of attention on spatial analysis in econometric literature may be due to the focus on deductive reasoning and the lack of software available. Some well-known software packages are reviewed which are projected to be of significant impact on the relative importance of spatila analysis. These include Gauss, Splus, Limdep, Shazam and Rats. These econometric software packages are easy to use and provide diagnostic services for economists.

A Note on Statistical Approaches to Shift Share Analysis
Article Abstract:
Econometric models of shift share analysis have not gotten much attention. The models furnish a positive analytical method within the shift-share structure because empirical findings can be tested with statistics. The ERR model can be neatly changed to a generalized analysis of variance model. Criticism of the ERR model is reviewed. The ERR model has an economic growth process which is hypermetropic.
