Equal opportunity, natural inequalities and racial disadvantage: the 'Bell Curve' and its critics

Article Abstract:

The book "The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life" advances the view that intellectual capacity differences among groups and individuals will have an impact on America's future. The two isolated segments of American society, the elite at the top and the marginalized at the bottom, should be encompassed by social policy that will forestall the destruction of civility and humanity. This can be done by formulating a neoconservative policy agenda.

A response to Jones's critique of interpretive social change

Article Abstract:

Some of Todd Jones' views on interpretive social science invite comment. He failed to support his ideas with reasons for preferring any one interpretation of a given social phenomenon over others. He only gave examples of interpretive works and did not elaborate on problems associated with ground particular interpretations. In addition, he failed to show that the grounding of such interpretations is a central focus of the peer review process.
