Expert systems: aspects of and limitations to the codifiability of knowledge
Article Abstract:
Four case studies have been used to demonstrate that codification of knowledge through creating expert systems is not wholly successful. The nature of the knowledge, or intellectual process or activity, being codified plays a role in success. It is suggested that more or less complex codification procedures are involved in different knowledge activities.

The building of knowledge spaces in Mexico: a regional approach to networking
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the creation of innovative scientific environments in Mexico are discussed. It is concluded that social and economic development should be directed at regional areas where underutilised science and technology resources have accumulated.
