Fiscal competition and interindustry trade
Article Abstract:
Strong links often exist between neighboring economic entities, including cities, states and countries, through a large volume of inter-industry trade. The tax and expenditure policies adopted by one economic entity clearly have dramatic impact on nearby economic entities. A predictive model of two such jurisdictions is developed. Analysis shows how changes in tax policy in either jurisdiction affects the wages, general welfare and fiscal interactions that stem from trade affiliations. The model and simulations contain features that clearly describe the European Community's economic environment.

Land use before zoning: the case of 1920's Chicago
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine land use before Chicago, IL, implemented its first zoning ordinance. The frequency and patterns of mixed land use were documented. It was observed that medium or heavy manufacturing establishments are far more likely to locate in isolated sites than to be mixed with other uses. Results are in agreement with previous results, suggesting that externalities were not severe enough in the 1920s Chicago to warrant a city-wide zoning ordinance.
