Frontier and urban-industrial explanations of US occupational mobility in the late 1800s
Article Abstract:
The geographic differences observed in nine regions of the United States with reference to occupational mobility between 1880 and 1900 among the National Panel Study (NPS) of white men in the age cohorts of 5 to 14 and 25 to 34 was studied using the log linear models. Results indicate that the higher occupational mobility rates were observed in the most urban regions.
