Introduction
Article Abstract:
Karl Popper discussed the philosophy of politics and of history in his book, 'The Open Society and Its Enemies.' The book, which Popper hoped would appeal to social democrats and social liberals, is a compromise between dogmatic foundationalism and relativism. The book is concerned with the impact of philosophical ideas upon politics. Popper explained the rise of totalitarianism and his objections to essentialism and historicism. The book also contains commentaries on Plato and Marx.
