'Let the circle be unbroken' helps African-Americans prevent teen pregnancy

Article Abstract:

Strategies need to be developed to address the high rates of adolescent pregnancy amongst African-American adolescents. Few of the current strategies can provide meaningful data about their successes and there is a lack of published results on their efficacy. The 'Let the Circle Be Unbroken: Rites of Passage' program aims to translate the theoretical basis of an Afrocentric conceptual model into a prevention program, involving adaptations of the socialization process seen in African cultures, known as the 'rites of passage'.

Sexology, sexosophy, and African-American sexuality: implications for sex therapy and sexuality education

Article Abstract:

Enhanced research on the behavior and attitudes of a wide spectrum of African-Americans is much-needed to provide insight on the complex role of sexuality in a black's life.
