NARA conservators meet the challenge every day
Article Abstract:
Every day, every week, the NARA's state-of-the-art Document Conservation Laboratory in College Park, Maryland (USA) takes care of details, repairs torn documents, flattens photographs, rebinds books, and performs a wide variety of conservation measures on the millions of accessioned records of all kinds. Among all the work of American history, Nara is taking care of conservation treatment of 'The Charters of Freedom'.

Eli Whitney's patent for the cotton gin
Article Abstract:
Eli Whitney's cotton gin is the machine used to clean the short and staple cotton that produces up to 50 pounds of cleaned cotton a day. He had originally thought that reducing the amount of manual labor in processing cotton but his invention also enabled great expansion in cotton planting and cotton yield.
