Sexuality experts have the opportunity to counter and rectify the stereotypical notions of sexuality in mass media by appearing in different programs. Experts should be focused and clear on the goals and objectives of sexuality and be able to articulate the message in an effective manner to draw maximum attention. Knowledge of the ways different media function is essential for effective interaction. Sex experts must prepare themselves before the program and air their views in a thought-provoking way by proper usage of sound bites on the major points of discussion.

The mainstream media in its search for a larger audience carefully deals with the issues of homosexuality and lesbianism. The mass media continues the stereotype portrayal of gays and lesbians, despite the increasing visibility of homosexuals in American society. This serves to maintain and perpetuate the mythical notion of traditional family values and police the boundaries of moral behavior. A gradual shift in the attitude of mass media is noticeable, as it slowly becomes more inclusive in accepting a diversity of sexual behavior.
