Participatory Action Research (PAR) is discussed, with a focus on implications for the philosophy of social science. Topics include democracy in relation to social inquiry, epistemic privilege, PAR and conventional nonparticipatory social science methods, the relationship between social and natural sciences, and value-neutrality in social research.

Philip Kitcher attempts to expand the traditional goals of philosophers of science in his book Science, Truth and Democracy. Kitcher's own scientific naturalist epistemology is adopted to argue for a naturalized theology of science, using a science as mediator model.
