Reflections on the murder of Yitzhak Rabin
Article Abstract:
The assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin by Yigal Amir reveals the self-perpetuating nature of hatred and signals that Jews must work to break this cycle of hate. Some could not believe that a Jew could kill another Jew. This killing is an escalation of the hatred applied to Palestinian terrorists and then to all Palestinians. Israelis must renew their commitment to peace and to democratic principles and not use hatred based on Jewish suffering to prompt more violence.

Widening circles of disidentification: on the psycho- and sociogenesis of the hatred of distant strangers - reflections on Rwanda
