Slum Networking: an innovative approach to urban development
Article Abstract:
The Slum Networking approach is capable of teaching the disadvantaged members of the community how they can gain the needed improvements in their living conditions through their own efforts. The technique, which was first implemented in the Indore Habitat Project in India, was the recipient of the 1993 World Habitat Award for its successful and innovative approach to improving slum areas. The inhabitants are also able to gain self-respect and dignity as a by-product of the project's success.
