Social networks and the cognitive motivation to realize network opportunities: a study of managers' information gathering behaviors
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the actual information gathering behaviors of managers. It is hypothesized that individual differences in a personality variable called need for cognition capture differences in actors' cognitive motivation to realize the benefits that exists in social networks. Findings indicate that social network characteristics do not affect information benefits.
