The theory of reasoned action: a meta-analysis of past research with recommendations for modifications and future research
Article Abstract:
Two meta-analyses were conducted to investigate the effectiveness of the Fishbein and Ajzen model in research to date. Strong overall evidence for the predictive utility of the model was found. Although numerous instances were identified in which researchers overstepped the boundary conditions initially proposed for the model, the predictive utility remained strong across conditions. However, three variables were proposed and found to moderate the effectiveness of the model. Suggested extensions to the model are discussed and general directions for future research are given. Environment and development: theory and international evidence
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the the environmental effects of economic growth and the combination of environmentalism and economic development into the concept of sustainable development. A stylized model of tradeoffs in the environment and development encountered by countries undergoing economic growth was developed, along with an environmental transition hypothesis. Results showed that environmental advantages are negatively related to income in countries with less than $1,200-$2,000 income per capita but are positively related to income with an income elasticity exceeding unity in higher-income countries.

The dynamics of local collective action in the West Bank: a test of rival explanations
Article Abstract:
Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip rose in uprising against Israel in Dec. 1987. The uprising included mass disruptive actions and continues until today, making it one of the longest in modern history. Analysts, many of whom were caught unawares by the uprising, should have foreseen the inevitability of a Palestinian revolt against Israel. Popular politics and the temporal dynamics of collective resistance in occupied Palestine are discussed.
