Why test? Talent loss and enrolment loss?
Article Abstract:
The probability of any student, whether African American or white, or whether a low-scorer, average-scorer or a high-scorer, attending any post secondary institution is analyzed. There is a white-African American enrolment gap indicating that a heavy reliance on tests for PSI admissions can be unfair to talented African Americans and can penalize whites that are average students. In addition, race has no independent effect on the likelihood of attending a postsecondary education institution.

The detailed age trajectory of oral vocabulary knowledge: differences by class and race
Article Abstract:
The monthly growth trajectory of oral vocabulary knowledge is reported investigating how early an age, race and social class vocabulary gap first comes into being and for how many years it is maintained. Findings suggest that the highest rate of vocabulary growth occurs during the pre-school ages, and that this rate declines for each subsequent age period.
